Electrogenerated chemiluminescence of luminol on wireless conducting polymer films

We report on the generation of electrochemiluminescence (ECL) from luminol and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in alkaline aqueous solution entirely pure conducting polymer (CP) films. Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) polypyrrole (PPy) films prepared by constant current electrolysis were used as bipolar electrodes (BPEs) to drive ECL emission a wireless mode with aid electrochemistry. A common digital camera was capture strong generated at anodic pole such intensity profiles revealed gradient both materials, broad light-emitting region PPy narrow, edge-confined, PEDOT. Imaging analysis also allowed evaluation behavior CPs function total applied voltage (Etot) conductivity. Furthermore, electric-field driven molecular O2 induces propulsion PEDOT that can be followed ECL. In our knowledge, result represents first example electrochemical swimmers based free-standing intrinsically CPs. presume findings foster use materials wide fields electrochemistry open up their application organic swimmers.
